Devastation
The amount of devastation on the Gulf Coast astounds me. It truly puts life in perspective when you realize the entirety of the situation, if it is even possible to realize the entirety of the situation. There are people now without homes, without clothes, without electricity, without food — without the basics needed to survive. Many have lost loved ones. How will they ever survive? How will they rebuild? What will they do? Will the paltry amount of my contribution even help? New Orleans has been reduced to a third-world country. How is that possible in this day and age and in this great nation?
I thought about this last night as I sat in my comfortable air-conditioned home eating good food and enjoying the company of my family. What if something like that happened to me? Would I be strong enough to get through it?
My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the Gulf area — survivors, volunteers, police, medical teams — everyone……
