Senior Prom
Last night was the Senior Prom for BHS. Christopher took Brooke. They both looked gorgeous:
I still cannot believe my baby is a senior in high school. He graduates in 23 days! I know he’s excited — I remember the feeling.

Kelly, Kendrick, and I helped Grandpa in the garden yesterday. We accomplished a lot — replanted beans, corn, planted 6 more tomato plants, planted more squash. We weeded a bit and watered a bit. The weather wasn’t the best as it was overcast, cool, and windy.
Daddy has had a time with the crows this year. They keep digging up the litte corn plants, eating the kernel off the plant, and discard the dead plant in the garden. Sue suggested we put some tinsel on stakes and place it near the corn rows. I couldn’t find any tinsel like I wanted, so we are trying something similar: metallic pinwheels and metallic balloons. Daddy will have the prettiest garden on the mountain!
I’m not sure if NASCAR will race today or not — there is rain in the forecast and on the radar. If it rains the races out today, they will race tomorrow. We’ll keep an eye on the radar.
Kendrick and Kelly are spending the weekend with me while Kenny took Kay on a birthday celebration trip. A trip to where, you ask? They went to the NASCAR Nextel Cup race at the Talladega Super Speedway. Yea, I couldn’t believe it either! I just hope she keeps her shirt on — wonder if she packed a tube-top! I told her that if she got arrested she should just keep repeating “Bubba Sims, Bubba Sims”!!!
Kelly, Kendrick and I will have a good time. Kelly is spending the night with a friend tonight and we will pick her up in the morning. We are going to open the pool, help Grandpa in the garden and to to Senior Lead-Out at the Prom. Maybe the kids won’t be too bored.

Many years ago today, we were given little Kay. Oh my lands, oh my heaven, now she’s turning 37! |

I would like to send a thank you to my Personal IT Department. Without his help, not only would I not be in the 21st century, my kids would not be able to be online simultaneously. Jimmy helped me with my DSL installation and with setting up wireless internet. He spent countless (3) hours assisting me, and my kids were thrilled beyond belief. My Personal IT Department has helped me more times than I can thank him for and will probably help me more times in the future than he can ever image!
THANK YOU, JIMMY!!!
My kids think it’s about time, and I guess they are right. I had DSL installed in the house today and I think we are going to like it. Christopher, who has been begging for DSL for weeks now, didn’t know I had signed up for the installation. He was so excited when he got home that he practically shoved me away from the computer!
There’s one problem: Something’s wrong with the phone line. While I can make outgoing calls, I cannot receive incoming calls. Also, despite the filters, there is still static on the phone line. I have a call in to the phone company, but since they cannot call me at home, I’m not sure what’s going to happen.
Update: Part of the problem has been solved! We can now receive incoming calls. The problem was the phone in Jim’s airplane room. That phone has been disconnected and we can receive calls. Now for the noise on the line……
Monopoly is updating it’s look! Here’s your chance to voice your opinion! This is actually a neat site — very lively. Come back and vote every day until May 15th!
This is a beautiful sunset we had at our house Wednesday. Storms were all around and eventually we had a bit of thunder:
Jim and I took the boat out on it’s maiden season voyage yesterday. What a disaster. There were were — all ready in life jackets (including Wilson) — ready for a voyage. We didn’t make it 1/4 way from the marina to the bridge before the boat had a melt-down. We have no idea what is wrong with it, but I sure hope it isn’t something too expensive! Hopefully we’ll find out tomorrow.
When we sold Granny’s house, Sue was kind enough to dig up some flowers that Granny had in her front yard. This is the second year they have bloomed for me. So far, they seem to be thriving. I look at it as a springtime ‘hello’ from Granny:
