I think that today would be Daddy and Mother’s wedding anniversary. I believe they were married on June 29th, 1959, but I could be wrong! I’ll ask Daddy tonight. If I am right, that was 47 years ago……
Update: I stand corrected — it was June 6th.
Where did I go wrong? What could have happened? Could it be a genetic thing — a chromosome or something that went horribly wrong somewhere in the family lineage (Jim’s, of course, not mine)? This comment, and from my own daughter!
Aubie has been nominated for the Mascot Hall of Fame! Six collegiate mascots and six professional mascots were nominated in each of the two categories. Part of the selection is determined by an online vote so click here to vote now!
According to their web page, “The mission of the Mascot Hall of Fame is to honor great mascot performers, performance, and programs that have inspired tradition and positively affected their communities. Each year mascots and mascot performers will be elected to the Mascot Hall of Fame and inducted in a celebratory event. ” The induction ceremony will be on Tuesday August 15th, 2006 in a celebratory event at Love Park in Philadelphia.

Ok, so there’s not much in the week to review, but here we go anyway! There was work… yes, work! Oh, and shopping. I bought the cutest pair of healed sandals Friday afternoon and then couldn’t resist a pair of white sandals today. So I have an obsession… I admit it! I need to go to AA for shoeaholics.
Daddy came over for supper Wednesday night. I cooked stuffed bell peppers and the peppers were from Daddy’s garden. The peppers were delish (much much better than any meatloaf I ever tried to cook — don’t ask). Thursday night we ate at Daddy’s house from the garden. That was good eating! Very good. We had stewed squash, creamed potatoes (not mashed), corn on the cob and purple-hull peas (both from the farmer’s market) and cornbread.
Jessica is moving to her first apartment the week after Jennifer moves into hers! The three of us (and guy-Kelly) went shopping today. Jessica just signed her lease last Saturday and she was raring to go! We her started on her apartment in a great way. She made a lot of great purchases: towels for the kitchen (green) and vanity area (pink) and bathroom (turquoise blues), floor mats, dishes, glasses, bakeware, cookware (knives, spatulas, etc.), a shower curtain, and hot mats. I’m sure I’m forgetting some stuff. Jennifer bought some bakeware and the cutest towels to add to her collection. We had a great time and I cannot wait to go again!
Jim and I went and bought lottery tickets tonight, but haven’t seen tonight’s numbers to verify that we are once again losers. Oh well, we have a great time anyway! Tomorrow Jim and I are going to eat lunch with great-grandmother and then Jennifer and I are going to Kendrick’s birthday party!!!!!

I have nothing especially interesting to say this morning, but since it’s been a while since I posted, I figured why not! Jennifer went to that place and registered. She’s all ready to start school in the fall. Jim and I (and Wilson, of course) went out in the boat this weekend — we had a good time.
Kay and her family and Christopher and I took Daddy out for a Father’s Day lunch. We all had a great time. Maybe we can start going to lunch more often on Sunday.
Sorry to be so boring, but that’s all that’s going on right now!
I helped Daddy in the garden yesterday. As it turns out, all our hard work is coming to fruition. Today we dug some of the onions, tied up the tomatoes, and planted black-eyed peas. Daddy picked some squash and zuchini earlier in the day, and Daddy and I picked a little more squash and peppers (in addition to the onions). Here is part of the harvest:
Off two small bell pepper plants, we got 13 peppers! I’m going to cook stuffed peppers Wednesday night. The tomatoes are looking good — I counted 18 tomatoes on one plant. Yes, one plant. They should start ripening soon and Daddy sure is ready for them. Personally, I’m waiting on the okra — I can taste it now! We are having dinner at Daddy’s Thursday night: creamed potatoes, squash, green beans, and okra. Yum, yum!
Once a month, the old crowd gets together for lunch. It’s always nice to catch up with friends and eat! We always have a great time!! Here you have it, the lunch crowd:
I must have been a fish in a previous life. I love the beach, love the river, love the swimming pool! Yesterday we took the boat out late in the afternoon. It was wonderful! The water wasn’t too cold, so I swam for a bit. We ran up river and down river and just had a great time. Today I spent some time floating in the pool. Yes, I must have been a fish in a previous life!
