Christopher’s baseball team wrapped up play in the county tournaments this weekend. They came in 2nd in the county. He was thrilled. Of course he would have rather won 1st place, but being that this is the highest he’s ever gone (as a player or a coach), he was thrilled. Saturday’s championship game was the culmination of a hard week.
Last Saturday was the beginning of the tournaments. Our boys won. We were to play again Monday night, but because ONE player didn’t show, we had to forfeit. It took me almost all week to get over that. I couldn’t believe the selfishness and lack of consideration of one family not only put the team into the loser’s bracket but also inconvenienced about 50 other people (including both teams and the officials). But, I digress. We played and won Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights. By Saturday, our boys were tired and you could see it on the field. Still, they were all happy to accept the 2nd place trophies on the field and were beaming.
I’m very proud of Christopher… he has grown a lot and is becoming the man I was trying to raise. Of course at times, I still treat him like a child (much to his chagrin), but I guess that won’t change easily.
CONGRATULATIONS, BUSCUITS on taking 2nd in the county!
