Happy Birthday, Daddy! A gal couldn’t have hand-picked a better father than you! I love you very much!
I don’t remember the last time I was this sore. There isn’t a place on me that doesn’t hurt. Why, you ask? Because I’m an idiot. Ok, ok… so you knew that already. I’ll tell you why that makes a difference today.
Last week, I moved offices at work. I’m not sure I like the current arrangement of furniture, so I haven’t tidied it up very well and there are cables running from my desk across the floor to the plugs on the wall. Can you see where this is going? Yea… you’re right. I tripped on those cables yesterday morning and sent myself flying. I fell on 2 knees and one hand. And I fell hard. I fell so hard that my shoes left bruises and a blisters on my feet. Yep, my feet are bruised and blistered — I couldn’t even wear any cool shoes today and had to settle for tennis shoes.
This morning, the pain in my knee woke me up. I tried to go back to sleep, but the aching wouldn’t allow that so I got up extra early for a shower hoping it would ease the aches. My knees, shoulders, arms, neck, back, feet, and head all hurt. I guess I’m lucky in 2 respects:
1. I didn’t break anything
2. No one witnessed the fall and therefore no one laughed at me (and I’m sure it was FUNNY!)
Here’s hoping going-home time arrives quickly today!
I need to play catch-up. There are several things I’ve been meaning to blog, but haven’t had time. Here’s a partial list:
Kendrick’s surprise birthday party
Going to Houston to visit Jimmy’s family
The entire family being home
Dishes
Maybe I’ll get around to it soon.
My dear brother tagged me this morning, so now it’s my turn! I’m supposed to tell eight random things about myself. I was going to think about this for a while and then blog, but I’m going to live on the edge and go for it. I’m sure there will be things I’ll think of later that I’d wished I written, but so what! Eight random things about the great and wonderful me? Here goes:
1. I love beer. Yep, it’s true. Almost any brand, almost any style. I love it all. But, if you know me, you already know this!
2. Scary movies, scary books, haunted houses, and lurking around cemeteries are neat things. I love creepy things. Why? I have no idea!
3. I prefer thunderstorms (with lots of lightning) and rainy or cloudy days to sunny days. Guess this and the previous item say a lot about my personality, huh? Nah — actually I’m a very fun, upbeat, happy person.
4. My first marriage has lasted 22 years (and counting)! And, yes, I still love my husband!
5. I adore shoes. Shoes adore me. They jump at me every time I go shopping. They beg to be bought! Who am I to resist? At last count, I had about 95 pairs. I don’t remember when I took the last count, but additions have been made to the collection since then. I’d estimate about 110 pairs right now! My husband has 3 pairs.
6. I have the best father in the entire world. What other man would raise four children under the age of eight all the way to adulthood by himself? I never realized how difficult it must have been for him until I had children of my own. There were many times I called him and apologized for things from my childhood! I think the man deserves a prize!
7. I love the beach.
8. I love college football. There’s no better Saturday in the world than one where there are SEC games on television from 11:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. Unless, of course, it’s a Saturday full of SEC games and thunderstorms! (This is all assuming Auburn wins that day.)
As I review this list, I realize that anyone who knows me already knows these things. I suppose I should have written random things that no one knows, but that would take a while to think about and it might get me in trouble! There you have it, eight random, but not-so-new things about ME! It’s now my turn to tag. I must thank Jimmy for not tagging all our sibs as then I’d have NO ONE to tag!
So, I hereby tag 2 sibs and 2 kids:
Sue
Kay
Jennifer
Christopher
In the spirit of Sue’s blog, Jennifer and Christopher can email me their 8 random things and I’ll post them on my blog!
YOU ARE IT!
Jennifer and I have been visiting my big brother and his family for the past couple of days. We arrived around 4:00 p.m. on the 4th and are leaving early tomorrow. We’ve had a great time! As usual when I visit someone, I try to cram too much into too little time. Wendy, Summer, Jennifer, and I spent most of yesterday shopping. For supper last night we at a a terrific Mexican restaurant. Jimmy treated us! Today, we went to the barn. Jennifer, Summer, Bryn, Jimmy and I all took turns riding Patience — a beautiful horse. Poor Wendy worked all the while mucking stalls and giving the horses hay. Jimmy grilled hamburgers for us tonight. We’ve had a great visit and I only wish it were a longer one. We are planning to leave around 5:00 a.m. tomorrow morning. Summer and Bryn are coming home with us to spend some time with their extended family! Hopefully I can post some pictures from the past week and from Summer and Bryn’s visit.
